Paris Plage 2016 kicks off on July 20th, 2016

Being in Paris during summer, you’ll certainly be dreaming of getting a seductive tan in one of the fine beaches. No need to head south to the Frensh riviera, Tunisia, Morocco or even Spain. Still in Paris, you are lucky to have the chance to relax, refresh, lie down under the Parisian sky and sunbathe.

To the delight of Parisians and tourists alike, the French capital is transformed into a huge resort on a month’s time. From July 20th to September 4th, 2016 the docks of the Seine and many other locations will take on the appearance of an ephemeral exotic seaside resort during Paris plage 14th edtion.

5000 tons of fine sand are stretched on the banks of the Pompidou road (1st and 4th), the Bassin de la Villette (19th) and the square of the City Hall (4th). Almost 550 chairs, 450 beach umbrellas, 50 palm trees and dozens of animations await you during Paris Plage, number 1 estival event in Paris par excellence.

As for activities, you’ll be really lost for choice. On the programme: bowling, dancing, reading, baby foot, Tai Chi…  Between the Pont des Arts and the Sully, walkers can refresh themselves through different foggers installed along the Seine .Good news for parents, children are also entitled to their activities with Vélib‘s miniatures and a club with various games (zip line, swings, slide …) for toddlers 3 to 7 years. 😀

Faithful to its traditions of honoring a city each year, Paris Plage 2016 pays tribute this year to the cities of Tunis and Sousse (Tunisia).  From July 20th to July 24th, Georges Pompidou avenue will be named “Quai Jasmin” and will beat to the rhythm of the Tunisian summer. A craft village, a photo exhibition, virtual library and artistic performances, tasting session of Tunisian dishes (fricassé, bambaloni, wines…). A foretaste of Tunisia while in Paris not to be missed!

As for culture, it never misses such a popular event. The Louvre and the Modern Art museum will display some of their works outside the walls while the Zoo offers a walk to discover the wildlife. The water lovers, meanwhile, are expected in the marina of la Villette basin for rowing, canoeing, pedalo …

For six weeks, Paris Plage allows all Parisians to fully enjoy the holidays and to live differently summer in the capital. It’s unmissable. Guess why! It’s fun, playful and FREE. Hurry up and get your sunbed before it’s taken. More than half a million visitors are expected this year. 😉
